Meditation – Many famous people have incorporated meditation into their daily lives, recognizing its effectiveness and power to relax and gain intuitive insights. The great German poet and naturalist Johann Wolfgang von Goethe used meditation to connect with that which “holds the world together in its innermost folds. His meditation practice contributed significantly to his ability to write some of the greatest works of world literature, such as Faust, The Sorrows of Young Werther, and numerous other books. These works have since become part of the core educational canon in schools and universities throughout the German-speaking world.

Albert Einstein once said of this spiritual practice: “Through meditation I found answers before I even asked the right questions. (Meditation seemed to help the Nobel Prize-winning physicist develop his groundbreaking theories by stimulating his mental imagination and focusing his attention on the right questions. For example, it led him to consider what it would be like to walk alongside a beam of light. What would be the consequences for the laws of space and time? From this meditative insight and his persistent search for an answer, he developed the special theory of relativity with the famous formula E = mc².

Nobel Peace Prize winner Albert Schweitzer also emphasized the importance of meditation, speaking of the human need to center and introspect. Through meditation, the German-French physician and philosopher shaped the intellectual life of his time and became one of the most important thinkers of the 20th century. Schweitzer, the “jungle doctor,” founded a hospital in the central African nation of Gabon and consistently drew strength and inspiration from retreating to focus on the higher self.

Steve Jobs, the founder of the global company Apple, also used meditation to free himself from distractions and not be led astray by premature thoughts and emotions. At the age of 19, Steve Jobs traveled to India to learn meditation – developing intuition was a valuable step for him. Even in his professional life, he continued to draw inspiration from spiritual teachings and apply them to his interactions with customers.
